i almost dont understand why they even came out with the g2 engine. couldnt they have just made a software version?

There could have been some sort of hardware change to do with it. That would at least explain the fact that the software for the original modular is only in beta for OS X while the G2 has full support.

im talking about the g2 engine the knobless rack mount version of the g2 kb. you pretty much can only use it with a computer.

It does not put any noticeable strain on the computer's CPU, however. What I'm waiting for is a G2 Engine-style device with a headphone jack and runs on firewire bus power and has s/pdif or optical digital i/o.

Q: Why doesn't Timmy ever touch the frequency knobs of his oscillator modules?
A: He still hopes for them to get some interest from the fixed frequency bank.

Q: Why doesn't Timmy use his spring reverb?
A: "It's summer, mom!"

Just build your own. This way you get what knobs and such you need or want.

Here´s a patch I did on my Nord Modular, it self-modulate, it´s not manually modulated in any way...
